Colour for Georgian house

A Georgian home in the heart of a North Yorkshire village recently suffered flooding which resulted in the ground floor interiors being ripped out. Now the space is a blank canvas. Walls are freshly plastered, and a hand-built bespoke kitchen is due to be fitted in a few weeks. The decorator and flooring company are booked, and the client needs to make decisions on the kitchen cabinet colours, wall, ceiling and woodwork colours throughout the ground floor and without delay.
The client understandably feels overwhelmed by the volume of decisions and the timeline.
Isobel walks through the ground floor with the client, each space considered in terms of its function, natural light, desired mood and materiality and finishes. Previously the client has struggled to reconcile the balance between the character of the house, their own sense of style, and that of their partner too. Isobel straightaway understands this challenge and demonstrates how this can be overcome and aesthetic harmony created.
An area in the middle of the house receives little natural light and Isobel shows the client the best options for this. During the conversation the client mentions certain colours that they are drawn to but haven’t known how to incorporate, immediately Isobel explains how they can bring this colour into their home without overwhelming the space.
Isobel suggests colours from a range of different paint suppliers to create a nuanced and unique palette. Together, Isobel and the client explore the possibilities and agree on a full ground floor colour palette, encompassing walls, ceilings, kitchen cabinets, built-ins and trims.
Isobel leaves the client full of joy and excitement for the project, with a clear path forward and full confidence in the plan.
